Alagoas took the first step to create a Climate Change Forum on August 2019. Alfredo Sirkis, executive director of CBC, and Sérgio Xavier, deputy executive director, were at the city of Maceió for the meeting with representatives of Secretariat of Environment and Water Resources of Alagoas (Semarh).

It was presented data of Alagoas's contribution to Brazilian greenhouse gas emissions, and the adaptation efforts already made. Also was discussed the creation and implementation of the "Low Carbon Economy Acceleration Platform" and priority actions for the implementation of state Climate Change policies. Alagoas starts an effort to discuss the contribution for Brazilian NDC and the implementation of state Climate Change policies.
